...and oranges and browns.
The start of Autumn can be seen as something to look forward to, a new beginning, the start of the new school year and the adventures to come. A time for planning and looking ahead. I get that.
However, I always feel there is a certain sadness, a feeling of melancholy that accompanies this season.
It could be because those long, hot, hazy days of Summer (in England...who am I kidding?) are at an end. Or it could be the feeling that Mother Nature is quietly getting ready for the long Winter to come. Turning the leaves from green to brown and orange, slowing everything down to conserve energy for the coming months.
Believe it or not, I do actually like Autumn; the nip in the morning air, crisp walks in the coutryside, the chilly evenings that mean you can snuggle up under your favourite blanket, and even the occasional sunny day; it's just that under the surface it can seem a little forlorn.
